I am here again with another fiction story, theme is coexistence of AI and Human. I have signed up for storytellers bloghop for 4th time in a row.
It’s been a month and I am yet to get that picture perfect shot (means a perfect story)
I am not really convinced that AI and Humans should co-exist. (Because they can’t be creative, also they are too predictable)
Ridit- You are the best…, Mom!
Mom- I know (Smiling)
Ridit- I love you!
Maa- I love you too Betu
Ritika- You don’t love me at all, he is your favourite.
Mom- no baby, I love you too and I love you both equally, come here. (Mom and kids hug each other)
Ritika- Mom, what happened, why are you crying?
Mom- Nothing, I just went back to the memory lane when you both were tiny and could fit in my arms. Do take care of your health too and…
Ritika- I know, I know, I will call you every day and write mail once a week. Will visit Bhai every month and on festivals. Anything else, Shall I leave now?
Mom- Yes, pack these snacks as well.
Ritika- Ok, I’ll do that
Ridit and Ritika have moved out to another country for better career opportunities and are flourishing, They are happy and so are their parents. Siblings live in the same city, they pay a visit to each other every month and at festivals. Meet their parents twice a year.
It’s been more than a decade now, Ridit and Ritika have their own families, and the families share a beautiful bond. Having Siblings and family nearby is a blessing. While the Siblings are happy being each other’s support, their parents are now alone.
Dad- How are you Ridhit?
Ridit- I am good Dad, how are you and Mom and GrandMaa?
Dad- We are good too.
Ridit- I have a Surprise for you and Mom. At the door, please open the door.
Dad- Door? Are you here? or Ritika? Surprise Visit?
Ridit- Both 🙂 You just open the door.

Dad- What is this?
Ridit- A robot, preprogrammed with all the necessary information, designed and executed by both of us. It’s name is “Beta”. It knows your likes, dislikes, daily routine, passion, hobby, etc… All you have to do is, assign the work and it will be completed effortlessly. You can go for a morning walk with it, It will help you in the kitchen and gardening, It can drive without getting tired of traffic. It can do all the mundane work which you don’t wish to do. Isn’t it amazing Dad? And It can play Ludo with GrandMaa while you and Mom go for a movie or dineout.
Dad- It’s good, but we don’t need this.
Ridit- If you don’t need it, just put it in sleep mode. It will finish all household chores too, effortlessly and will not be tired.
While the story ends on a good note, let’s give a thought about have an AI as a household help, which will be able to do everything a human can do when assigned. The best part will be, It won’t get bored or tired until the battery is charged, just change the battery and assign the mundane tasks. If I ever get this oppotunity, I would spend my time Reading and writing while the Mundane tasks will be taken care of by the AI.
What would you do if you have such a machine/Robot/ AI?

I wouldn’t mind having a robot at home to do all my work. It’ll be a winning situation where I’m free from chores and have company too.
I wouldn’t mind a robot doing all my household chores while I concentrate on myself, my family and work. Going for walks with it or including it in my life, maybe. It’ll be fun to have someone around when no one else can be.
I would lovee AI as a house help. It will give us so much more time to work on our passions and hobbies and spend more time with family.
Also, it would be a great company for our parents as well, especially after the kids move out, just like Ridit and Ritika.
I really enjoyed reading this. The bond between the siblings and their parents feels so real, and I can relate to those small, special moments. The mix of AI and human connection adds an interesting twist. It’s a nice reminder of how relationships grow, even with all the tech around.
I’d love a robot like the one described in your story. I just wonder (I could be wrong) if such inventions make us increasingly lazier, driving us away from the basics of humanity which is to work physically and mentally in equal measure for a balanced life. Just asking. But I like your robot because I personally am not very fond of household chores.
I just read your story, and it really got me thinking about the future of AI in our daily lives. The idea of Ridit and Ritika creating “Beta” to assist their aging parents is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. It highlights the potential of AI to bridge gaps in caregiving, especially when families are separated by distance. However, it also raises questions about the emotional aspects of human interaction that machines might not replicate. Your narrative beautifully balances the benefits and challenges of integrating AI into personal relationships. It made me reflect on how I would feel about introducing such technology into my own family dynamics. Would it enhance our bonds or create unintended distances? Your story serves as a gentle reminder to cherish human connections while embracing technological advancements thoughtfully.
Honestly, I would not want it. Initially, it will make us feel good. But overtime, we will have nothing to do. Tha’t’s not a good place to be in. Of course these are just my thoughts.
That’s a great idea. Not sure, though, if I would like all my work to be done by an AI. Some things are better with my personal touch, I feel.
Definitely, robots are helpful around mundane chores. It was good of both the siblings to think about the welfare of their elders. They just have to see the advantages and the strengths, like any machine.
You are right, Pooja! If I had the opportunity, even I would use a robot to do all mundane tasks!
