The A2Z of Parenting, D- Descipline

Moving further in A2Z of parenting Fourth Letter and Word is D- Descipline

Effective Discipline ‘teaches’ children what is right and helps to make right decision. It is necessary to start disciplining kids in young age. Descipline brings positive changes or positivity in life. This is different from punishment which focuses on what is wrong. The most important thing we can do for our children and infact teenagers too is to keep open communication and protect their self esteem. This in turn will help them make positive choices in life (in future too).

Punishment might be misunderstood as revenge, It is harmful to the parent-child relationship, even though misbehaviours may stop, this is because of fear and anger, which might affect the child later. It doesn’t teach children to make positive or right choices in the future.

Discipline is based on teaching and learning, also on experience. Also, Communication plays vital role here, kids do understand when we explain them the consequences of both the choices (Positive & Negative). Teaches children new positive behaviours and helps them feel safe and learn to be responsible.

Tried to pendown the outcomes from our experience, will me more than happy if this helps you in anyway. We try to do our best everyday for our kids’ better future and trying help them be responsible adults and contribute in making this world a better place to live. Hope you like the article 😊
